Analysis of Trace Organic Compounds in Environmental Samples

Home Departments Group Environmental Chemistry Analysis of Trace Organic Compounds in Environmental Samples

The main interest of this research is centred on the study of organic pollutants at trace concentrations in the matrices pertaining to the different environmental compartments. The environmental matrices subject of study are especially focussed on the aspects related to anthropogenic activities in the environment, that is, the atmosphere, soil and water as well as waste management (urban, industrial solid waste, waste from waste-water treatment plants, etc.). These areas of study permit the research groups assigned to this subline to share and to put forward their experiences and findings in international forums such as, for example, commissions assigned to develop standards, commissions dedicated to drawing up recommendations for future regulations, etc. Finally, these studies permit the preparation of inventories that serve to comply with some of the commitments acquired by the different states. Perhaps the most recent case is the Stockholm Convention.
