Ignasi Queralt Mitjans
Description
Educational Background
M.Sc. 1982, Geology, University of Barcelona
Ph.D., 1988, Geological Sciences, Dep. Crystallography, Mineralogy and Mineral Deposits, University of Barcelona
The scientific background of Dr. Queralt is related with Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Environmental Sciences. After a short period as Assistant Professor of Crystallography at University of Barcelona he entered at the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in 1990.
Research Interest
The main research interest deals with the application of different X-ray spectroscopy techniques (WDXRF, EDXRF, micro-XRF, TXRF, XRD, synchrotron) to environmental geochemical studies (rocks, soils, minerals, water, vegetation…). Likewise, the use of non-destructive analytical tools for the study of crystalline or non-crystalline solids, including cement compounds, cultural heritage materials and inorganic forensic objects.
Scientific activity lines
-Environmental geochemistry
-Soil-plant-water chemical transfer
-Chemical and structural characterization of mineral raw materials
-Development of non-invasive analytical methodologies
-Elemental trace analysis
-Recycling and valorisation of inorganic solid wastes
-Assessment of Cultural Heritage Materials
-Non-destructive characterization of forensic evidences
