Description

Luciana holds a BSc degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, and a MSc in Water Sciences (Joint Degree from IHE Delft, TU Dresden and IST Lisbon).'Since November 2023 she works as a PhD Candidate at the IDAEA-CSIC and University of Barcelona.
Her PhD in Hydrogeology focuses on the design of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) schemes to capture surface water during extreme rainfall events resulting from climate change, increasing water availability (quantity and quality). Also, on studying how MAR could help mitigate droughts, floods and water pollution processes at catchment scale, fostering climate adaptation in collaboration with stakeholders. Her research entails water and climatic data analysis, surface water and groundwater flow modelling, solute and reactive transport modelling in porous media, and environmental chemistry analysis.
She has five years of previous professional and applied research experience, collaborating with governmental and international institutions to better understand the role of aquifers in socio-environmental systems and guide decision-making in water resources management.
