Description
I am an MSc. Hydrogeologist, postgraduate in Hydrogeology applied to Environmental Care and Mining at the Universidad de Chile and Science & Comprehensive Water Management at the Universitat de Barcelona. I work as a Pre-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research of the Spanish National Research Council (IDAEA-CSIC), conducting my PhD thesis titled "Hydro-Chemo-Mechanical Behavior of Cementitious Materials from Aggregate scale to the Continuum scale" at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. This study is part of the Mechanical AGIng of Cementitious materials (MAGIC) project under the European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management (EJP-EURAD). My current research focuses on the numerical modeling of coupled hydro-chemo-mechanical (HCM) processes related to nuclear high-level waste management and engineered barrier systems in deep geological repositories, with special focus on the geomechanical aspects that may compromise the integrity of concrete. In previous studies, I have also researched in isotopic fractionation of evaporating waters in temporary river pools. My professional background includes consultancy as environmental hydrogeologist, where I analyzed well hydraulics and hydrogeochemical data to develop conceptual and numerical models for environmental impact studies. As a field hydrogeologist I gained experience in designing, drilling, and constructing water wells using various methods. I also analyzed hydrogeological and geotechnical core samples, conducted constant and variable pumping tests, as well as performed monitoring and running packer tests. Additionally, I have participated in geochemical, hydrogeochemical, and isotopic monitoring campaigns.
