DESCRIPTION:La plataforma PRISMÀTIC organitza aquest serminari online el proper 14 de novembre\, on coneixerem una innovadora iniciativa de ciència ciutadana que analitza la presència i el destí ambiental dels additius del cautxú dels pneumàtics i altres compostos químics relacionats amb el desgast dels pneumàtics en entorns urbans\, així com també un projecte de recerca enfocat en el Delta del Llobregat\, una zona natural protegida\, tot identificant com aquests compostos poden afectar la salut ambiental i humana. A través d’un diagnòstic participatiu dut a terme a l’Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona\, ens aproparem a un projecte pioner que permet a professionals i societat comprendre millor una contaminació sovint invisible\, poc estudiada i no directament associada als combustibles fòssils. \nTots els detalls d’aquesta proposta ens els compartiran la Mercè Garí i en Nicola Montemurro\, investigadors de l’IDAEA-CSIC\, i l’Enric de Roa Boneal\, tècnic de gestió d’espais naturals del Consorci per a la Protecció i Gestió dels Espais Naturals del Delta del Llobregat. DESCRIPTION:Invited speaker: Kateryna Marynets\, professor at the Delft University of Technology\, the Nederlands\nTitle: Fractional Differential Equations: Origin\, Analysis and Applications \nDate: 6th November 2024\nTime: 12:00 am.\nVenue: Sala d’Actes\nDuration: Long-up to 45 minutes (presentation + Q/A session)  \nAbstract:\nFractional calculus is a powerful tool in mathematical modeling\, that gets more attention of applied mathematicians and natural scientists since the past decades. Dynamical systems involving fractional order derivatives are able to incorporate the so-called ‘memory effects’\, and due to the nonlocal nature of fractional differential operators they are usually used in modeling of the flows through porous media (e.g.\, the groundwater flows)\, sub- and super-diffusion processes etc. Additionally\, a large choice of fractional derivatives and variations in their order gives more flexibility in comparison to the classical integer-order models. Since most physical processes are nonlinear and the exact solution of such models is\, in general\, impossible to find\, we are interested in construction of reliable iterative methods that enable us to deal with this task. In my talk I will present one of such approaches\, that is based on analysis of a system of fractional differential equations\, subject to periodic boundary conditions. A proper perturbation of the studied system allows us to reduce analysis of the boundary value problem to an equivalent initial value problem\, whose solutions are approximated using the numerical-analytic scheme. I will also demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of this method on a real-world problem.

En aquesta conferència es revisarà la composició dels plàstics\, l’evolució de la seva producció mundial\, les diverses fonts de contaminació\, els seus impactes als ecosistemes\, les vies d’exposició humana i efectes en la salut\, així com la legislació actual. Finalment\, s’exposaran les línies d’actuació per abordar aquest problema que\, a hores d’ara\, és un dels reptes més grans de contaminació a què s’enfronta la nostra societat.

No tenim per tant un referent d’una situació anàloga en el registre geològic recent. Estem fent un experiment amb el planeta. La sequera planteja moltes incerteses i forma part d’aquest experiment. En aquesta presentació es farà un resum de les causes i conseqüències del canvi climàtic\, de la situació de la sequera a Catalunya i de les possibles vies de solució.

DESCRIPTION:Ponent: Xavier Querol \nTítol: Evolució i situació actual de la qualitat de l’aire a les ciutats \nDepartment: Geosciences\nData: XX Febrer 2024\nHora: 12:00 pm.\nLloc: Sala d’Actes\nDuració: 45 minuts \nAbstract:\nAl setembre de 2021 l’OMS va actualitzar les Guies de Qualitat de l’Aire\, reduint els valors de protecció de la salut humana que es van fixar al 2005\, basant-se en les noves evidències científiques. Encara que la estratègia temàtica europea de qualitat de l’aire ha fet disminuir els nivells d’alguns contaminants fins al 50% des de 2005\, molts d’aquests estan encara lluny de no superar els nivells  de referència de la OMS. La UE està actualment revisant la directiva de qualitat de l’aire per apropar els valors límit als de referencia de l’OMS i es previsible que s’aprovi al Marc-Abril de 2024. \nEs revisa la qualitat de l’aire urbana a Europa en l’actualitat\, s’identifiquen quins son el contaminants claus\, es descriu l’evolució des 2000-2023\, s’identifiquen les causes actuals més rellevants de la contaminació per cada contaminant clau\, es revisen els nous contaminants i el possible efecte del canvi climàtic en la qualitat de l’aire i es suggereixen algunes estratègies de millora. \n
