Education
BSc in Geology (BGU, Israel), BSc in Civil and Environ. Eng. (Technion, Israel), MSc in Agric. Eng. (Technion), PhD in in Civil and Environ. Eng. (UC Berkeley, USA).

Positions
Postdoctoral associate (MIT), assis. prof. (Hebrew University), assoc. prof. (Coventry, UK), currently ATRAE distinguished researcher in IDAEA.

Research interests
Out-of-equilibrium multiphase and reactive transport in porous and granular materials, where multiple fluid and solid phases interact to produce intricate spatiotemporal patterns, path-dependency (hysteresis) and rate-dependency. I develop novel models, trained and validated by controlled experiments, which allow upscaling from the scale of individual pores to the continuum scale where spatially-averaged description allows to describe the phenomena at the scales of practical interest. The insights from my works provide the knowledge required to advance prediction and monitoring of geoenergy applications (carbon geosequestration, storage of energy and contaminants) and the contamination of soil and water. They are also beneficial to preservation of heritage monuments, manufacturing of filters and fuel cells, and curing of paints and cements.
