Marc Teixido, PhD is a Ramon y Cajal Fellow at the IDAEA Research Center (Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research) at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). He has been a 5-year Postdoc researcher/Project Assistant at the University of California Berkeley, working for the National Science Foundation-funded Engineering Research Center called Reinventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt). Dr. Teixido research interests lie on water quality and contaminant fate in natural and engineered systems, especially focusing on cost-effective systems able to integrate stormwater capture, treatment, and groundwater recharge (CTR) to enhance local water security, flood control, and environmental protection. To this end, he applies an engineering approach in conjunction with the most advanced analytical techniques to: (i) understand the fate and transport of emerging contaminants in different aquatic and terrestrial environments; (ii) develop and assess novel, safe, cost-effective and sustainable water treatment or soil remediation materials to foster a transition from traditional linear to circular economy; and, (iii) advance underutilized blue-green infrastructures.
