Summary

Due to its remoteness and extreme weather conditions, Antarctica has remained as the “last untouched wilderness”. Today, around 50,000 people (tourists, scientists) visit Antarctica annually. Associated with the growth of human presence is the use of sunscreens. The proposed project seeks to deepen our understandings of the relationships between emerging organic and inorganic UV filters and the functioning of key microbial communities in Antarctica.
