Summary

Dr. Esteban Abad holds the position of Tenured Scientist within the Geochemistry and Pollution group of the Department of Environmental Chemistry at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDÆA), a research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His career spans 30 years, during which he has specialized in the analysis of dioxins and other Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) utilizing HRGC/HRMS for biotic and abiotic samples. He is a co-author of more than 120 articles in SCI-indexed journals and has contributed to multiple research initiatives studying POPs in ecosystems, industrial processes, food, feed, and human tissues. His international footprint includes serving as the Convenor for the CEN/TC-264/WG1 committee to harmonize analytical methodologies, as well as working as a UNEP expert leading laboratory capacity-building initiatives under the Stockholm Convention, particularly in the GRULAC region.
