Our service

Summary

The Oil and Chemical Spill Analysis service is accredited by ENAC in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and focuses on the chemical characterization of oil spills in the aquatic environment according to EN 15522-2, which is based on the principles of environmental forensics.

The products to be analyzed are crude oil and its derivatives containing a significant proportion of hydrocarbons with boiling points above 200 °C. The method is based on a comparative study of molecular marker ratios between the different candidate sources and the contaminated samples. Although the laboratory has extensive expertise in the analysis of environmental matrices, the scope of accreditation is limited to seawater, sampling nets, emulsified samples and tar balls.

In addition, persistent chemical floaters on the sea surface (vegetable oils, plasticizers, FAMEs and siloxanes) can also be analyzed under ENAC accreditation using an in-house laboratory methodology.
