Our service

Summary

The Environmental Toxicogenomics service offers a range of equipment and highly specialized staff, enabling the application of several techniques:

  • RNA and DNA extraction and quantification
  • RNA quality control
  • Agarose gel electrophoresis
  • Gene detection
  • Gene expression analysis
  • Genetic variation analysis

In addition, the ETS offers the possibility of assessing the toxicity of compounds, mixtures and samples following OECD guidelines, using tests such as the Fish Embryo Acute Toxicity Test, Daphnia magna Reproduction Test, Daphnia sp. Acute Immobilisation Test and Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria Growth Inhibition Test.

The ETS also provides a lipidomics platform for the analysis of the lipid composition of biological samples, including lipid extraction, analysis and data processing. Furthermore, the service offers in vitro assays using fish and human cell lines for the detection of endocrine disruptors capable of modulating steroid balance in the selected cell model.
