Joaquim Jaumot is a Research Scientist at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC). He holds degrees in Chemistry and Computer Science Engineering and a PhD in Chemistry.
His research focuses on chemometrics, multivariate data analysis, and the development of computational tools for extracting chemical and biological information from complex datasets, with particular expertise in Multivariate Curve Resolution (MCR). His current research advances the concept of Environmental Intelligence by integrating analytical and environmental chemistry, environmental omics, and artificial intelligence to transform complex environmental data into interpretable knowledge and mechanistic understanding of environmental processes. His research also explores the development of advanced sensing technologies and their integration with AI for the detection, monitoring, and removal of environmental pollutants.
A major contribution of his research is the development and dissemination of open scientific software, particularly the MCR toolboxes, which have facilitated the application of advanced multivariate data analysis methods across diverse scientific fields. He has led national and international research projects and currently coordinates an MSCA project. Finally, he also supervises doctoral and postgraduate researchers and contributes to postgraduate teaching, scientific training, and research evaluation.
