She holds a PhD in Environmental Science (2007, Doctorate Extraordinary Prize). She was Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Southern California, USA, and at Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland.

Her research focuses on air quality in outdoor and indoor environments and the contribution of sources of particulate matter (aerosols), with emphasis on carbonaceous aerosols. She masters the use of aerosol mass spectrometers for the real time chemical characterization of submicron atmospheric particles. She coordinated the COST Action CA16109 COLOSSAL on fine aerosols using high time resolution techniques (80 partners from 34 countries). She is part of ACTRIS Research Infrastructure, and member of CEN European Working Groups. She has participated in more than 35 national and international research projects: 2 as PI in Spanish National Plan, 1 as PI of subproject Marie Curie ITN, and over 10 contracts with administrations. She advised different Spanish administrations on Covid-19 transmission (2020-2021) and was interviewed by several media, e.g. RTVE, RNE, Agencia EFE. Her article in The Conversation was read more than 300 000 times. She received the Award to Young Talented Female Scientist from the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences Foundation (Premio al Joven Talento Científico Femenino, FRACE) (2021).
