Enric Vázquez Suñé is a Senior Researcher and Deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA), of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He graduated in Geology in 1988 and until 1997 worked in several consulting companies and as a freelancer. From 1998 to 2007 he was a professor at the School of Civil Engineering of the UPC, where he completed his Doctorate in 2003. In 2007 he obtained a full-time position as a Tenured Scientist, and Senior Researcher (2019) at the CSIC.
His main line of research is the study of hydrogeological resources and hydrogeology applied to urban contexts, civil engineering and mining. Specialist in groundwater flow and solute transport modeling; hydrogeochemistry; aquifer contamination; software design and development (9 registrations / patents) for applications in hydrogeology; etc.
He has developed an intense research career in which he has published more than a hundred articles in scientific journals and directed 12 PhD and more than 50 Master’s Theses. He has also directed and participated in numerous national and international research projects, both in funded competitive projects and in technology transfer contracts for public or private companies. He actively participates in several Doctorate and Master’s programs in the field of hydrogeology and the environment, currently being the director of the Master’s in Hydrogeology and Modeling (UB-CSIC).
