Marta Herrero-Villar is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) in Barcelona, where she is member of the Chemometrics for Environmental Omics (Ch4EO) group. Her current research focuses on the environmental monitoring of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and other contaminants in water, sediment and soil, as well as on wildlife biomonitoring to assess contaminant exposure and their potential toxicological and ecological effects. Her work combines different sampling and analytical approaches, including passive samplers, to investigate the occurrence, spatial and temporal dynamics, and impacts of chemical contaminants in the environment. Prior to joining IDAEA-CSIC, she worked at the Wildlife Toxicology Group of the Institute for Game and Wildlife Research (IREC, UCLM-CSIC-JCCM), where she completed her PhD and continued her research as a postdoctoral researcher. Her research focused on wildlife ecotoxicology, particularly on avian scavengers, investigating exposure to veterinary pharmaceuticals and other environmental contaminants, their exposure pathways, and their potential impacts on wildlife health and conservation.
