Summary

I hold a double degree in Environmental Sciences and Geology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). During my undergraduate studies, I collaborated with UAB’s Toxicology Department processing archaeological and contemporary leaf samples, and completed my bachelor’s thesis on microplastic prevalence in urban solid waste. I earned my Master’s degree in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, where my thesis investigated sources and levels of mercury in Svalbard reindeer feeding habitats.

Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) in Barcelona. My doctoral research focuses on evaluating the environmental and human health impacts of persistent and emerging organic pollutants. Thus far, I have prioritized key compounds of interest based on their presence, environmental risk, and human exposure along the Catalan coast, while also mapping pollutant distribution across brain, muscle, and fat tissues in commercial species and marine mammals. As part of my research, I completed a guest stay at Linköping University in Sweden to master the complex analysis of polychlorinated alkanes. Additionally, I have participated in oceanographic research cruises under the ONE BLUE project to evaluate the presence, trophic transfer, and exposure risks of persistent and emerging organic contaminants across marine ecosystems. I am deeply passionate about biota analysis and marine environmental research.
