Summary

I am an environmental analytical chemist, and I am interested in the assessment of human exposure to legacy and emerging organic pollutants. I hold a PhD in Health Sciences from UiT–The Arctic University of Norway (Norway) and I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher at IDAEA-CSIC since 2023. My current research focuses on the study of human exposure to plastic chemicals and PFAS through consumer products and the evaluation of the associated health risks. In 2025, I was awarded an MSCA postdoctoral fellowship to study human exposure to PFAS through dermal contact with menstrual products.

During my PhD in health sciences, I studied temporal changes in human exposure to PFAS and other anthropogenic organofluorine chemicals using pooled human serum and a combination of analytical methods for fluorine mass balance (including total fluorine, extractable organic fluorine, total oxidizable precursors assay, target analyses and suspect screening with LC-Orbitrap-HRMS and direct infusion FT-ICR-MS).

My experience includes the development of analytical methods for the detection of organic pollutants in consumer products and biological samples, the development of novel tools for human exposure assessment (dermal contact and inhalation) and the assessment of human exposure risks using deterministic and probabilistic methods.
