My research focuses on the evaluation of the occurrence and fate of emerging organic pollutants (pesticides, pharmaceuticals, etc.) and their transformation products in different environmental matrices, biota and food by means of target and non-target screening methodologies based on liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS/MS) and high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). My area of expertise includes the assessment of the potential environmental and human health risk of organic contaminants (awarded of the EU-FORA fellowship funded by EFSA in 2021) and the implementation of remediation strategies via natural or biodegradation processes. Currently, my work at IDAEA-CSIC is focused on the study of the presence and impact of persistent and emerging organic pollutants in fishery products to identify those to be incorporated by future European and International directives.
