Summary

Prof. Marinella Farré (H-index=82, more than 240 peer-reviewed publications, and more than 20,000 citations). Her main research line is advanced environmental analysis aimed at detecting and evaluating the impacts of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs). Her work encompasses pharmaceuticals, polar pesticides, plasticizers, polymers, siloxanes, highly persistent and highly polar chemicals, including perand polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), as well as anthropogenic particulate pollutants such as nanomaterials and micro- and nanoplastics across environmental, food, and human matrices, particularly in the context of climate change. Her scientific achievements have been supported by her leadership and participation in numerous national (19) and international (25) funded projects.

She is currently the coordinator of the EU Horizon Europe project ONE-BLUE, involving 19 partners from 11 European countries, and leads the national project Med-Health. In addition to her research activities, she serves as Director of the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Laboratory at IDAEA-CSIC, which is the Spanish National Reference Laboratory for POPs. Other activities include UNEP GEO-7 Intergovernmental and Expert Reviewer, participation in UNEP training courses for Latin America and Caribbean countries as well as Member of the Advisory Committee for the Costa Montgri and Medes Islands National Park.
